“Starship Troopers” meets injury rehab: An interview with Cadence Biomedical

Eastside homelessness and hunger on the Rise

The National Bureau of Economic Research declared that the Great Recession ended in June 2009, but as unemployment in Washington state at almost nine percent, that is scant comfort to many local families.

According to the Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness, as of January 2010, almost 573 people were homeless on the east side of Lake Washington

“Speed Dating” for mobile developers and Nonprofits

I’m organizing another Seattle Net Tuesday social mixer, and this one will match mobile technology specialists with the nonprofits who need their skills. This “speed dating” event will happen 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the Tap House Grill in Bellevue. The goal is to help nonprofits to find volunteers to develop mobile Websites and mobile apps for iPhones and Droids. If you are a developer, then this is an effective way to build your startup’s reputation and boost its portfolio!

Social media were crucial to promoting the Oil Spill Wildlife Rescue

Steven Matsumoto, CEO of Stigmaré Couture Marketing & Product Development, was one of the key organizers of the Oil Spill Wildlife Rescue in Seattle on July 15. The fundraiser attracted more than 300 attendees and raised more than $7,000 for The Nature Conservancy’s efforts to save oil-stricken wildlife in the Gulf Coast (For more details, see my July 27 post).

Matsumoto took time out of his day to answer questions about organizing the rescue and the role played by social media. He also described some of Stigmaré’s future activities.
